Dara Consulting (“we”, “our”, “us”) built CloseAI as a utility application. This page explains what information the app handles, where it is stored, and what we do (and don’t do) with it.

What CloseAI Does

CloseAI connects your iPhone to a server you own and control. It installs an open-source AI runtime on that server via SSH and lets you chat with it over an encrypted connection. At no point does any of your data pass through Dara Consulting servers or any third-party cloud service.

Information Stored on Your Device

The app stores the following data locally on your iPhone only:

• SSH credentials — your server hostname, port, and username are saved in the app’s local database. Your SSH password and the API key for the backend are stored exclusively in the iOS Keychain and are never written to iCloud or any external service.
• Chat history — messages are saved in a local SwiftData database on your device so you can review past conversations. They are not backed up to any server we operate.
• Server identity — the SSH host key fingerprint and the TLS certificate fingerprint of your server are stored so the app can verify it is connecting to the correct machine on future sessions.

None of this information is transmitted to us or to any third party.

Information Stored on Your Server

Your server (which you own and operate) holds the AI models, the backend API key, and TLS certificates that were generated during setup. Dara Consulting has no access to your server and never receives copies of any data stored there.

Information We Do NOT Collect

• Analytics or usage statistics
• Crash reports or diagnostic data
• Advertising identifiers
• Location data
• Your chat messages or conversation content
• Any personally identifiable information

CloseAI contains no third-party SDKs for advertising, analytics, or tracking of any kind.

Network Communication

The app communicates exclusively with the server address you enter. It makes no outbound connections to Dara Consulting, Apple (beyond standard iOS system calls), or any other external service during normal operation.

Initial model downloads (performed by Ollama on your server) originate from your server, not from your phone, and go to ollama.com as directed by the Ollama project.

iCloud & Backups

CloseAI does not use iCloud Drive, CloudKit, or iCloud Key-Value storage. Your SSH password and API key are stored in the iOS Keychain with kSecAttrAccessibleAfterFirstUnlock and are not included in iCloud Keychain sync or standard device backups.

Children’s Privacy

CloseAI is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect any information from children.

Changes to This Policy

If we update this policy, the new version will be posted at this URL with a revised “Last updated” date. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
